Ubisoft has announced a remake of Heroes of Might and Magic III. The game turns twenty seven next year and is being rebuilt from the ground up in full 3D and 4K, together with both of its expansions. The Steam page is already live, the release date is not.

What is promised

The key line from the official description: this is not a re-release with sharper textures but a rebuild. New models, new animations and modern audio, while the turn based rules and the same nine factions with their creatures stay in place.

  • Both expansions are included. Armageddon's Blade and Shadow of Death ship with the base game.
  • The campaigns are stitched into one story. The originals get a new prologue, an epilogue and cinematic scenes.
  • Up to eight players online. Plus local turn based matches on one machine, the old hotseat.
  • Community maps from day one. There are editing tools for balance, maps and campaigns.

No date, the Steam page says to be announced. No price either. The only listed platform is PC, with nothing about consoles. Ubisoft is named as both developer and publisher on the store page.

Text localisation covers a long list including Russian and Polish. Full voice over is listed only for English and the two Chinese variants.

I am careful about this one. Heroes III is that rare game that still lives on its own: there is an HD re-release, there is the fan made Horn of the Abyss, there are tournaments. A remake has to do more than look better, it has to avoid breaking something that has worked for twenty seven years. Map editing tools on day one at least suggest somebody understands that.

Everything here comes from the Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake page on Steam, app 3809850, as of 25 August 2026: Ubisoft as developer and publisher, Windows as the platform, the release date to be announced, the description of the full 3D and 4K rebuild, nine factions, both expansions, one unified campaign with a new prologue and epilogue, up to eight players online, community maps and editing tools, and the language list.
