Uncharted 1-3 now run natively on PC: fan port adds 120 FPS, DLSS and FSR 4

The first three Uncharted games now run on PC without an emulator. Overnight on 15 October, a developer called SuperMedo put an unofficial port of Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection for Windows 10 and 11 on GitHub. Drake's Fortune, Among Thieves and Drake's Deception all launch from one launcher, run at up to 120 frames per second, take mouse input and support DLSS and FSR 4. Version 0.3 went up at 00:17 UTC, and by lunchtime 0.3.1 followed with a fix for the most common crash. The two builds were downloaded about 4,100 times in their first 13 hours.

SuperMedo is the same person behind the Windows version of the Bloodborne port, and this one works the same way: the original PS4 game code runs directly on the PC, and the graphics are translated to Vulkan. It's built on bbport, deadinside28's Linux port of Bloodborne, and on the renderer from the shadPS4 emulator. Sony only brought Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy to PC, in the Legacy of Thieves Collection. The original trilogy never got an official PC release.

What the port can do

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection
  • Frame rate. 60 FPS like on PS4, or 120. Anything above 120 is marked experimental.
  • Anti-aliasing and upscalers. TAA, FSR 3.1, FSR 4 or DLSS as DLAA.
  • Frame generation. FSR 3 on any GPU; DLSS at 2x on RTX 40 and up to 4x on RTX 50.
  • Controls. Keyboard, mouse and controller at the same time, everything remappable, and free mouse look in Uncharted 3.
  • Extras. Steam and desktop shortcuts from the launcher, automatic updates, and saves and settings carry over between versions.

DSOGaming ran all three games at 120 FPS at native 1440p on a Ryzen 5 7500F with 32 GB of RAM and an RTX 4070 Super. That's the only measurement so far; the port is less than a day old.

What you need to run it

The requirements are modest: 64-bit Windows 10 version 1903 or later, or Windows 11, a graphics card with Vulkan 1.3 and a current driver, and about 8 GB of free memory counting the page file. The download is 117 MB; unpack it anywhere and start Uncharted.exe.

The real catch is that the games aren't included. You need your own decrypted copy of the PS4 collection, the folder with eboot.bin and the data for all three games. The author doesn't explain how to get one, and neither will we. The project is unofficial, has nothing to do with Sony or Naughty Dog, and is released under GPL-2.0.

What's still broken

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection
  • A crash in Uncharted 1 after the first cutscene, with a GetRenderFrameParams error. The game ran ahead of the GPU while shaders were being built. In 0.3.1 it stays at most one frame ahead, as on PS4. If it still happens, the author asks for your user\last_run.log file.
  • Uncharted 2: textures stream in late and sometimes show up white.
  • Intel graphics: crashes for now.
  • Uncharted 3: green or black shapes flash for a single frame on some characters' clothes. shadPS4 has the same issue, so it's a shader translation bug.

Uncharted joins the wave of native PS4 ports that started on 1 October with the native Bloodborne port, followed by God of War III and eight more ports, from Shadow of the Colossus to The Last Guardian.
