Blizzard officially announced Diablo V at the BlizzCon 2026 opening ceremony. It is planned for spring 2029, and platforms have not been named yet. The core idea is unusual for the series: this time it is too late to stop the apocalypse, Sanctuary has already fallen and Diablo has won. Blizzard also laid out the near future of Diablo IV, including a Switch 2 version arriving as soon as 15 September.
Diablo V: a world that has already lost

In every previous game the heroes made it just in time. In Diablo V they did not. Blizzard puts the central question like this: what must you become when the world has already fallen. Judging by the teaser's burning city, the answer is going to hurt.
- Release. Spring 2029.
- Platforms. Not officially announced.
- Premise. Sanctuary has fallen, Diablo has won, the heroes are gone.
- Where to follow it. The game already has its own site, Diablo5.Blizzard.com.
Launch is two and a half years away, so this is an early reveal without gameplay. Blizzard promised more at a dedicated BlizzCon panel called Diablo V: Forging the Next Era.
What is coming to Diablo IV

- Season of Hell's Legacy, 15 September. You guide the lost soul of Deckard Cain against the Prime Evils, Baal, Mephisto and Diablo, collecting soul splinters that grant power with a price.
- Diablo IV on Switch 2, also 15 September. The Age of Hatred Collection with the base game plus the Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred expansions.
- The Amazon class, first half of 2027. From the island of Skovos, four archetypes and a weapon new to Diablo IV, the javelin, plus bows.
- A Netflix series. An animated Diablo series is in development, with details promised later.
Cow level fans got their own moment too: the Moophisto boss is coming back.
