Blizzard revealed a new Overwatch hero at BlizzCon 2026. His name is Doctrine, he is a vampire and a Support hero, number fifty four on the roster. You can try him right now in a trial running until 14 September, and he joins for good with Season 5. At the same time Sombra is moving to Support and Roadhog is getting a rework.
Who Doctrine is
Doctrine is a vampire inspired being and an ally of Doomfist. In the story Doomfist frees him from the Watchpoint: Grímsvötn prison inside a remote Icelandic volcano. A new Escort map with that name also arrives in Season 5.
- Role. Support that manipulates lifeforce.
- Scepter. Heals allies while damaging enemies.
- Bat like drones. Heal the team and give Doctrine a speed boost.
- Infuse. Transforms his next action, for example flight instead of a dash.
- Hero Trial. Live now and running until 14 September.
What else is in Season 5
- Sombra becomes a Support. She was a Damage hero and is changing role.
- Roadhog loses the hook one shot. His combo is being reworked so he is less frustrating to play against.
- The end of Reign of Talon. The year long story concludes in Season 5.
- A gift for one game. Play one match after the opening ceremony and pick one Mythic skin from Seasons 1 to 14, redeem by 5 October.
- The next big showcase. Blizzard will lay out its 2027 plans in February.
