Denuvo sues cracker voices38 over bypassing its protection in 26 games

Denuvo has filed a lawsuit against the cracker known as voices38. The case was docketed on 14 September 2026 in the US District Court for the Northern District of California under number 5:2026cv10423. TorrentFreak reported the complaint first.

The company claims that voices38 bypassed Denuvo Anti-Tamper and with it the protections that keep games from being copied, which is what allowed pirated versions to be built and distributed. The legal basis is the anti-circumvention part of the DMCA. Denuvo is asking for damages and for an injunction barring any circumvention of Anti-Tamper in any game, past, present or future.

Suing someone you cannot name

The odd part of the case is that Denuvo does not know who voices38 is. In the complaint he appears as an unknown individual or entity, alongside ten unnamed Doe defendants. The leads are listed in the document itself: a Discord user ID, a Reddit account and seven associated Steam accounts. Through those the company can seek the platforms' records on the owner.

The complaint lists 26 games, among them Resident Evil Requiem, Stellar Blade and Black Myth: Wukong. The list was already out of date when it was filed: according to the German outlet heise, cracks for Persona 3 Reload and Star Wars Outlaws appeared in the weeks before the suit.

The response

The cracker himself, per TorrentFreak, took it calmly: he wrote on Reddit that everything was fine and that things would carry on as before. Formally he risks nothing until he is identified, and identification is exactly what Denuvo went to an American court for, since the law there allows it to seek records from the platforms.

What matters here is not the fate of one handle. Denuvo spent years answering cracks with updates to its protection, and now it is trying the legal route against a specific person. How it ends depends on whether those accounts can be tied to a real human in a country where a court ruling can reach him.
