Michael Myers has shown up in video games nine times, counting only what the publishers themselves confirm. The first was an Atari 2600 cartridge in 1983, the latest is Halloween: The Game, out since September 8, 2026. In between sit two Call of Duty games, Dead by Daylight, Fortnite, a pixel-art platformer and a couple of browser promos. Of those nine, you can buy exactly three today.
- Halloween, Atari 2600, 1983: a killer with no name and a babysitter with no head
- 31 years of silence: why Myers skipped games until 2014
- Call of Duty: Ghosts, January 2014: Myers as a Field Order reward
- Dead by Daylight, October 2016: ten years as The Shape, then gone from the store
- 2022-2023: a browser promo, a mobile puzzler and Fortnite
- Call of Duty, September 2024: an Operator in Warzone, and then nothing again
- RetroRealms: Halloween, October 2024: Myers as the hero
- Halloween: The Game, September 2026: the biggest Myers game yet
- Where Myers isn't, even though everyone thinks he is
- Every Michael Myers game in one table
- Scores: the pixel Myers beats the big one
- Where to start if you want to play as Myers
The oddest part is at the very top of the list. The 1983 game never calls him Michael. Nobody in it has a name at all. Below is every appearance in order: what Myers does in each one, what it costs, and what still works as of October 12, 2026. The full table and charts are near the end.

I counted strictly. Fan games, and there are plenty, are not on the list. Neither is the 2007 Flash game Michael Myers Rampage: the only mention I could find is a 2021 Cheat Sheet piece, with no site, developer or date behind it. If you have a primary source, send it and I'll add it.
Halloween, Atari 2600, 1983: a killer with no name and a babysitter with no head

The first Halloween game came out in October 1983 from Wizard Video, the home video label of producer Charles Band, who held the video rights to the film. Tim Martin programmed it and built it with Robert Barber, both of them refugees from the bankrupt Games by Apollo. It was first promised for March 1, and an unfinished build was shown at CES in Las Vegas that January.
You play the babysitter. She runs between the floors of a house, walking children to safe rooms, while a grey-haired man with a knife follows her. He has no name, and neither does she, or the kids. You recognize him by two things: the knife, and Carpenter's theme, which kicks in whenever he walks on screen.
There are two ways to clear a level: rescue five children, or find the knife and stab him twice. He gets faster each level. And if he catches the babysitter, her head vanishes, blood pulses from her neck, and she keeps running around anyway. People often call that a bug. Wikipedia files it under the gore, of which the game has more than the film.
It sold badly, which was no surprise in the year of the US video game crash. Plenty of cartridges shipped with no label at all, just a strip of tape with "Halloween" written on it in marker, and Atari collectors hunt them now. Atari 400/800 and VIC-20 versions were promised for June 1983, but there is no sign they ever shipped. As for the "1985 Commodore 64 Halloween" that keeps turning up in lists, I could not find it in any catalog.
31 years of silence: why Myers skipped games until 2014

After the Atari game comes a gap three decades long. Freddy Krueger got games on the NES and Commodore 64, Jason Voorhees on the NES and ZX Spectrum, and Myers got nothing, on any console from the NES to the PS3. No publisher ever explained it, and the films kept coming the whole time, from Halloween 4 in 1988 to Rob Zombie's remakes in 2007 and 2009.
For comparison we have the same rundown of every Freddy Krueger game and every Jason Voorhees game. Myers trails both on game count, but judging by the 2020s, he is catching up.
Call of Duty: Ghosts, January 2014: Myers as a Field Order reward

His comeback was a surprise: a military shooter. Onslaught, the first map pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts, hit Xbox One and Xbox 360 on January 28, 2014, and PC, PS3 and PS4 on February 27. One of its four maps, Fog, is a night camp by a swamp that looks a lot like an eighties slasher set.
Fog has a special Field Order. Complete it and you become Michael Myers for a while: mask, coveralls, more health than the soldiers around you, and Carpenter's theme playing for everyone in the match. It is the first confirmed time you could play as Myers, and it happened in Call of Duty, not a horror game. Here is a match recorded by a player, no commentary:
The DLC is still on sale on Steam. Ghosts costs $39.99, Onslaught another $14.99. Ghosts itself sits at "Mixed", 66 percent positive out of 32,184 reviews. I wouldn't spend $55 for a few minutes in the mask, but if Ghosts is already in your library, the DLC costs less than lunch.
Dead by Daylight, October 2016: ten years as The Shape, then gone from the store

On October 25, 2016, Dead by Daylight got its Halloween chapter, the third chapter in the game and the first licensed one. For $6.99 you got Myers as The Shape, Laurie Strode as a survivor and the Lampkin Lane map in Haddonfield. It reached PS4 and Xbox One in August 2017, after the base game. That chapter started a tradition that later brought in Freddy, Pinhead and dozens of other borrowed villains.
The Shape plays differently from the other killers. He stalks survivors to fill his Evil Within meter, and at tier three he downs anyone in one hit. Until then he is slow and almost harmless, so a good Myers game looks like the film: a long stare from behind a corner, then everything ends very fast.
In 2019 he got the Haddonfield Nights outfit collection. Then on January 19, 2026, at 11am ET, Behaviour pulled the chapter from every store. The studio gave no reason; the press links it to the new Halloween game. If you bought it before, nothing changes and your outfits stay, but there will never be new ones. Everyone else got the perks of The Shape and Laurie in the general pool under new names, and the Haddonfield map left the rotation. More on him and the other killers in our Dead by Daylight killer guide.
2022-2023: a browser promo, a mobile puzzler and Fortnite
Next come three smaller appearances. Ahead of Halloween Ends in 2022, the film's site ran a free browser game, Escape Michael Myers. You play Laurie, Myers chases you, and weapons you pick up slow him down. The video above was recorded by a player. The site no longer loads, so there is nowhere left to play it.
In October 2023 a free match-3 game, Halloween: A Match Made in Terror, came out on iOS and Android with Myers and Dr. Loomis. The sources don't name the developer, and on October 12, 2026 I could not find it in the US App Store.
The big one of the three is Fortnite. On October 10, 2023, for Fortnitemares, the game files got a "Michael Myers" outfit with the description "The Boogeyman." from The Shape set, and it reached the shop after that. Community data puts the bundle at 1,800 V-Bucks, along with the Live From Haddonfield emote, which plays that theme. He is not in the shop right now, but Epic brings outfits like this back now and then, so check the shop closer to October 31.
Call of Duty, September 2024: an Operator in Warzone, and then nothing again

On September 17, 2024, Activision announced Season 6 of Modern Warfare III and Warzone with The Haunting event. Michael Myers became a KorTac Operator, unlocked instantly with the Battle Pass. The same set had the Haddonfield Takedown finishing move and a Holger 556 blueprint with his mask on the body.
The season is over and you can't buy Myers on his own now. He also never came back. Black Ops 6's Haunting in 2025 headlined the Predator, Jason, Chucky and Tiffany, and Black Ops 7's Haunting in 2026 the DOOM Slayer. The official blogs for both seasons don't mention Myers once.
RetroRealms: Halloween, October 2024: Myers as the hero

On October 18, 2024, WayForward and Boss Team Games released RetroRealms: Halloween, a platformer in the style of 16-bit consoles. Here Myers is the lead of a whole game for the first time: he walks through the levels and cuts down anyone in his way. Laurie Strode came as a separate add-on, and you can play as her too.
It's on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Switch. On Steam it is part of RetroRealms Arcade and costs $19.99, or $39.99 for the bundle with Ash vs Evil Dead. Few reviews, but good ones: the shared RetroRealms Arcade page has 84 percent positive out of 121, and Metacritic gives the PS5 version 78, though from just four critics. Here is a full playthrough on PS5:
One odd detail. On the same day, August 12, 2024, Boss Team announced a second game, a big Halloween on Unreal Engine 5, with a Carpenter quote about hoping to "scare you silly." A year later IllFonic showed its own game with the same Carpenter and series producer Malek Akkad. Whether that was one project handed to another studio, or Boss Team's game was quietly dropped, neither side has said.
Halloween: The Game, September 2026: the biggest Myers game yet

On September 8, 2026, IllFonic, the team behind Friday the 13th: The Game, released Halloween: The Game with Gun Interactive on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. It has multiplayer where Myers hunts the people of Haddonfield while civilian players try to save them, plus a six-chapter story seen through Myers' own eyes. His movements were captured by Nick Castle, the actor who played him in the 1978 film, and T.J. Storm.
We gave it 5 out of 10: the film shows in every detail, while the optimization, the blurry image and the character models let it down. Details are in our Halloween: The Game review, along with how to turn off the grain and chromatic aberration. In a month it collected 16,311 Steam reviews at 66 percent positive, and Metacritic has 71 on PC, 65 on PS5 and 58 on Xbox Series. It costs $39.99.
More Myers are coming for Halloween. October 27 brings two paid looks at $9.99 each, from Halloween 5 and from the 2018 film, plus a free map, Tower Farm. So one game will soon hold several Myers from different films.
Where Myers isn't, even though everyone thinks he is

Lists online often credit Myers with games he was never in, so I checked the usual suspects. He is not in Mortal Kombat: the horror guests there were Jason, Freddy, Leatherface and Ghostface, not him. I found no official Myers in Funko Fusion, Identity V, Smite, Brawlhalla, Fall Guys, Rocket League or Pinball FX. Roblox only has fan-made stuff. There is a Halloween pinball machine from Spooky Pinball (2021), but it is a real, physical one, not a video game.
That doesn't prove he never appeared in any of them: I searched news and stores, not every patch of every game. If you find a publisher confirming one, send it over.

Scores: the pixel Myers beats the big one

Critics rate tiny RetroRealms highest, though it has only four reviews and comparing it straight to the big games isn't fair. Halloween: The Game holds up better on PC than on consoles, and Xbox Series got 58, the lowest on the list. Dead by Daylight and Fortnite obviously have no separate score for Myers.

Players see it much the same way. One caveat: on Steam, RetroRealms and Dead by Daylight are counted on the shared game page, so that's a score for the whole game, not for Myers alone. Even so, the newest and priciest Myers game sits near the bottom with players, right next to 2013's Ghosts.
Where to start if you want to play as Myers

- You want the 1978 film. Halloween: The Game at $39.99. If your card is around an RTX 4060 and you don't want to edit config files, though, I'd wait for a sale and a couple of patches.
- Short and fun. RetroRealms: Halloween at $19.99. One evening to finish, Myers cuts through everyone, and no tuning needed.
- You already own Dead by Daylight with the chapter. Easy: The Shape didn't go anywhere, so play him. You just can't buy the chapter again.
- For the history. Onslaught for Call of Duty: Ghosts at $14.99, if Ghosts is already in your library.
- Closer to October 31. Check the Fortnite shop: the Myers outfit has shown up during past Fortnitemares.
Halloween for the Atari 2600 can only be found secondhand today. If you want to know more about the man behind the film and its music, we have a rundown of every John Carpenter game.
