GSC has pushed patch 2.0.2 for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. It is tiny and fixes exactly one thing, but it is the one that left people stuck: NPCs and bodies could vanish, and a quest would run into empty air.

- What is fixed. An issue where certain NPCs or bodies could disappear and potentially prevent players from progressing. In the GSC notes that is the only line.
- When. 23 August, on Steam.
- What came before it. Patch 2.0.1 on 21 August, which dealt with broken textures.
- About mods. GSC asks you to disable mod setups if performance or stability went sideways after Back to the Zone.
Why this matters if you already finished the game
Because the Zone is busy right now. At the time of writing 22,592 people are in the game at once, and this is not launch day, it is an ordinary Tuesday almost two years after release. That is the August Update 2.0 with the move to Unreal Engine 5.5 doing its work: people come back, run into old saves and new bugs, GSC patches.
Patches 2.0.1 and 2.0.2 are the tail of that big update. If you are installing the game for the first time after 2.0 you will never notice the difference between versions, it all arrives at once. If you came back this week, update: a body with a key item quietly despawning is not the kind of small thing you want to meet halfway through the story. What actually changed in the Zone after 2.0 we went through shot by shot.
