Remedy has published the final PC requirements for CONTROL Resonant, and it is not the usual two columns but six configurations at once. Three without ray tracing and three with it, from 1080p at thirty frames up to 2160p with path tracing. The game arrives on 24 September.

Common to all six rows: 16 GB of RAM, 64 bit Windows 10 or 11, and 120 GB on an SSD. A mechanical drive will not do, and that is a condition rather than a preference.

What is easy to miss here

Now the two things that make this chart worth reading closely.

  • An upscaler is in all six rows. Including the minimum one, which promises thirty frames at 1080p on low. Remedy gives no native figures at all, not one.
  • Frame generation was not used in testing. That is a small footnote at the bottom of the chart, and it matters: the quoted frames were reached without it.

Read together, those two lines say the game is built around an upscaler from the start, but at least it is not hiding the missing frames behind frame generation. That is more honest than most.

The listed technologies are NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 and AMD FSR 4.1 with frame generation, DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction, ray tracing and path tracing, an uncapped framerate, HDR and ultra wide display support. What ray reconstruction is and how to switch it on we cover in a separate piece.

A summary of four takeaways from the Remedy requirements chart

What it costs

The bottom row is the pleasant one. The GTX 1070 came out in 2016, the RX 5600 XT in 2020, and both are still on the list. Six gigabytes of video memory is enough to get the game running.

The top row is another matter. For path tracing at 2160p Remedy names the RTX 5080, a card that sells in European retail for well over a thousand euro. We worked through prices across the range in our roundup of graphics cards for 4K, where you can also see why the top end is best avoided right now.

The middle ray traced row, an RTX 4070 Ti or an RX 9070, looks like the sensible one. The RX 9070 goes for around 640 euro here and handles that job according to the official chart.
