Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the third and final part of the reimagined original, will need around 200 gigabytes of storage. The figure comes from game director Naoki Hamaguchi, speaking to VGC at Tokyo Game Show 2026.
He was asked directly whether the game would be bigger than the two-disc releases of the previous parts. Hamaguchi said yes, and added that development is still under way so the final number is not locked down, but it is going to be about two hundred gigabytes.
Why it will not all fit on a disc
Hence the decision on physical copies: the game does not fit on the media, so part of it has to be downloaded. Hamaguchi said the team knows there are many opinions on this, but the game was not squeezed to match what the media can hold. The physical edition is deliberate all the same: discs may be dying out or they may not, and shipping something material mattered to the team.
For a buyer this means something simple. Two hundred gigabytes for one game on a console or a laptop with a 512 GB drive is half the disc, and the space has to be planned in advance rather than on installation day.
What else Hamaguchi said
- The game is getting two story expansions, focused on Vincent and Sephiroth.
- The release date is unchanged, 8 April 2027. It was announced at the September State of Play alongside a gameplay showing.
The Steam page is already up, so the PC version is known in advance, and the two hundred gigabytes apply to it as well. Given how much memory and storage prices rose through 2026, buying a drive for a single game turns into a line in the budget of its own.
