The end of September is crowded. Tomorrow, 24 September, Remedy's Control Resonant, Silent Hill: Townfall and EA Sports FC 27 all launch on the same day. Next Tuesday, the 29th, brings The Witcher 3 remaster and Minecraft Dungeons II, and on 6 October The Coalition releases Gears of War: E-Day. 24 September: Control, Silent Hill and football
Control Resonant follows on from Control but turns it into an action RPG set in a warped Manhattan. Reviews went live on 18 September, and the PS5 version holds 84 on Metacritic from 70 reviews: 60 positive, 5 mixed, 1 negative.
Silent Hill: Townfall now sits at 81 from 71 reviews, still with no negatives. We covered what critics like and dislike in a separate story. EA Sports FC 27 has 78 from 24 PS5 reviews. Its headline addition is The Grounds, a mode that mixes street football with the stadium.
29 September: The Witcher 3 remaster and Minecraft Dungeons II
Owners of The Witcher 3 get Wild Hunt Remastered for free on PC, PS5, Xbox Series and, for the first time as a native version, Switch 2. Saves carry over, and on PC you will need Windows 11 and an SSD. Everything known about the remaster is in our long read.
Minecraft Dungeons II comes from Mojang and Double Eleven and costs $29.99. TOEM 2, the follow-up to the cosy photography puzzler, arrives the same day.
Out already, and what comes next
Graveyard Keeper 2 from Lazy Bear Games came out on 22 September, and Dune: Awakening reached PS5 and Xbox Series the same day. Last week it gained a full single-player mode that finishes the story of Book One.
The next big one is Gears of War: E-Day on 6 October, the story of Emergence Day where the series began. After this week's Xbox cuts it launches at an awkward moment: according to Eurogamer, the game's story director was laid off two weeks before release.
