Right now there's one place to look for the Flame Rifle in Hunt: Showdown 1896: the Firefighter Supply, a supply point that only appears during the Inferno time of day. Crytek says the flamethrower is guaranteed there. Inferno came back on 13 October with the All Hallows' Cleave Halloween event and stays in rotation until the end of Blood Testament Chapter 3. The chapter's other new weapon, the Long Derringer pocket pistol, is still locked: it unlocks for everyone at stage 5 of the community event. This guide covers how to find the supply on the map, how to keep the flamethrower from sputtering out, and whether the Long Derringer is worth waiting for.
Flame Rifle location: the Firefighter Supply in Inferno

First, check the time of day when you pick a mission. The Firefighter Supply only exists in Inferno and won't be on the map otherwise. Besides the flamethrower, it can hold a Scouting Map or Tarot Cards. You'll recognise Inferno straight away: wildfires sit in fixed spots, block the usual paths, and the smoke cuts visibility hard.
The tricky part is something else. Since update 2.9, every Supply Point, Scout Tower and Extraction Point is hidden by default, so the Firefighter Supply has to be discovered first. What helps:
- Get closer. Hidden locations are revealed within 75 metres.
- Scout Towers. They always have a Scouting Map, and these maps can also turn up at any Supply Point. A map reveals hidden locations.
- Spyglass. It still marks hidden locations on the compass.
- The Atlas tarot card. The new stage 1 reward of All Hallows' Cleave reveals every hidden location on the map at once. Once that stage is done, it's the best tool for hunting down the flamethrower.
The flamethrower itself isn't new to Hunt. It first appeared during Post Malone's Murder Circus Encore, where it was bought at the circus for one Pledge Mark. Update 2.7 moved it to the Firefighter's Supply at the same price of one Pledge Mark. The Chapter 2 notes don't mention a price, only that it's guaranteed there. Blood Testament has Pledge Marks again: one for every 25 Event Points, up to six at a time.
How to use the Flame Rifle

The Flame Rifle is a converted rifle that sprays pressurised liquid that ignites as it leaves the barrel. The thing to understand is that range depends on pressure, and pressure has to be pumped up. The more pressure in the tank, the further the flames reach. Pressure drops over time and while firing, so a flamethrower you've just picked up and started using reaches noticeably shorter than one you pumped in advance.
- Oil. The tank holds 60, up from 50 in update 2.7. It can only be refilled at Oil Barrels, regular ammo boxes won't help.
- Range. Damage starts dropping after just 5 metres. It's a weapon for doorways, corridors and monster lairs, not open fields.
- Slot. Since update 2.8 it takes a Size 2 slot, so a full-size rifle fits next to it. The wiki recommends Quartermaster, which adds +1 Weapon Capacity.
- What it's for. Damage against Targets and Brutes was trimmed back in 2.7. But Bileweavers have taken over 20 new compounds across all maps this chapter, five per match, and Crytek says outright that the flamethrower will come in handy against them.
One catch. The red Bloodweavers that cause bleeding only show up under the Blood Moon, while the Firefighter Supply only appears in Inferno. You won't find the supply and the red spiders in the same match, so against Bloodweavers you'll need to bring your own fire, such as Dragon Breath shells.
Long Derringer: when it unlocks and what it's good for

The Long Derringer is a small single-shot pistol chambered for Long Ammo, the game's third pocket pistol after the Quad Derringer and the Derringer Pennyshot. It's a Tool rather than a weapon, so it doesn't take a weapon slot. It unlocks at stage 5, the last stage of All Hallows' Cleave. Stages are cleared by the whole player base together, with community points coming from match objectives. For comparison, the previous community event, Make Them Bleed, cleared its first stage in 18 hours and all three in three days, so the wait probably won't be long, even with five stages this time.
The price and its unlock rank in normal progression aren't known yet, and the wiki still shows question marks. The stats are known: 116 damage, a 40-metre drop range, 250 muzzle velocity and a 4.9-second reload. Crytek describes it as high damage with a slow, fast-dropping bullet, most accurate at short to medium range.

The key number: 116 is less than a Hunter's 150 health. The Long Derringer won't kill with one body shot, so you need a headshot or a second hit from your main gun. The Quad Derringer does 74 per shot but holds four rounds and reloads in 3.6 seconds. Where the Long Derringer wins is the cartridge: Long Ammo goes through wooden walls, small trees, thin stone and single metal sheets. I'd carry it as a finisher. A Hunter you've just hit with a rifle ducks behind a plank wall, and you've got a second shot without swapping weapons.
The other two event rewards: The Atlas and The Temperance

Before the pistol, the event hands out two new Tarot Cards. Stage 1 brings The Atlas, which reveals every hidden location on the map and, as mentioned above, is the best way to find the Firefighter Supply. Stage 3 brings The Temperance, which restores the last trait your Hunter lost during the mission. The developers add that it also returns traits taken by Siphon, not just burned ones. During Blood Testament, Tarot Cards still come from Dark Tribute milestones, and they can also turn up in the Firefighter Supply.
The Halloween chapter itself is covered in our news on All Hallows' Cleave. The Blood Testament shotguns have their own guide: how to unlock the Burgess, Bayonet and Trauma for free.
- The Flame Rifle is guaranteed at the Firefighter Supply, which only appears during the Inferno time of day.
- The supply has to be discovered first: get within 75 metres, find a Scouting Map or use The Atlas.
- Pump the flamethrower before a fight, refill only at Oil Barrels, and expect damage to fall off after 5 metres.
- The Long Derringer unlocks at stage 5 of All Hallows' Cleave: 116 damage, one Long round.
- It won't one-shot a Hunter to the body, so treat it as a finisher and a shot through planks.
