Sony has named the PlayStation Plus monthly games for October: F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896 and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2. You can add them to your library from Tuesday 6 October until Monday 2 November, and the basic Essential tier is enough. On the US PlayStation Store the three cost 149.97 dollars together. A month of Essential there is 10.99.
September's games are still up for a couple more days. Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life and Chained Echoes can be claimed until Monday 5 October, so if you skipped them, now is the time.
What you get and which console it runs on

- F1 25, PS5 only. The official game of the 2025 Formula One season from Codemasters and EA Sports. Career mode, My Team 2.0 with you as the team owner, and online racing, including a new squad mode in F1 World. Normally 69.99 dollars. If you already pay for EA Play, you have it through that subscription anyway.
- Hunt: Showdown 1896, PS5 only. Crytek's online extraction shooter: track a boss through the bayou, take the bounty and fight your way out while other hunters try to do the same to you. Solo or in a team of up to three. 29.99 dollars. From 6 October PS Plus members also get the Hunt: Showdown 1896 Starter Pack.
- Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2, PS5 and PS4. The voxel spin-off of EDF. Pick four soldiers, some of them from older games in the series, and defend a blocky Earth from giant enemies. Four player online co-op and two player split screen. 49.99 dollars.

Hunt is the pick I like most here. It is online only, and you cannot play paid games online on PS5 without PS Plus in the first place, so subscribers get exactly the thing they are paying for. F1 25 looks generous on the price tag, though anyone in EA Play gains nothing from it.
What it would cost you without the subscription

At US store prices F1 25 alone costs more than six months of Essential, which comes to 65.94 dollars. All three together add up to 149.97, close to two years of the subscription on the 79.99 annual plan.
Prices elsewhere are different, and Sony warns that the lineup itself may vary by region. Check your own store on 6 October before you count on a particular game.
How to claim them and what happens when your subscription ends

Add each game to your library while it is in the lineup: open its PlayStation Store page, or the PS Plus section on the console, and press Add to Library. You do not have to download it straight away. You can play for as long as your subscription is active. If it lapses, the games lock, and they unlock again when you renew.
The Extra and Premium catalog for October has not been announced yet. Lately it has come on a Wednesday in the second or third week of the month: 10 June, 15 July, 12 August, 9 September. We check the PS Plus lineup every month, the same way we keep the full list of Epic Games Store giveaways up to date.
