The first mini PCs built on the Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495, the AMD chip codenamed Gorgon Halo, are on sale. GMKtec has started selling the EVO-X5 Pro, ACEMAGIC listed the F9A Pro today, and Minisforum is taking orders for the MS-S1 MAX-P495 with shipping in mid-October. All three come with 192 GB of unified memory, and prices start at 6,499 dollars.
What the chip is and how it differs from the 395
The Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 is a refresh of last year's Ryzen AI Max+ 395 (Strix Halo), not a new generation. The same 16 Zen 5 cores and 32 threads, the same 40 graphics compute units, the same power envelope. The clock bump is token, 100 MHz on both the CPU and the GPU. The real difference is memory: up to 192 GB instead of 128, and faster.

What the first mini PCs cost
- ACEMAGIC F9A Pro. 6,499 dollars for 192 GB of memory and a 2 TB SSD. The case measures 158.5 by 158.5 by 81.5 mm, weighs 1.4 kg, and has OCuLink for an external graphics card.
- GMKtec EVO-X5 Pro. 6,599 dollars with a 2 TB drive and 6,899 with 4 TB, both with 192 GB of memory.
- Minisforum MS-S1 MAX-P495. 7,399 dollars on sale, regular price 9,249. Dual 10 Gb networking, 80 Gbps USB4 v2, and a built-in 320 W power supply.
The makers all say that up to 160 GB of the 192 can be assigned as video memory. That is the whole point of these machines: GMKtec promises to run 300-billion-parameter language models locally on its mini PC, with no cloud. That is the manufacturer's claim, we have no measurements of our own yet.
Who needs it and who does not
For a gamer this upgrade does almost nothing. The graphics are the same as on the 395 plus 100 MHz, and no game needs 192 GB of memory. If you want a mini PC for gaming, a 395 machine will cost noticeably less and be almost as fast.
Local AI is a different story. An RTX 5090 has 32 GB of video memory, and that card alone cost more than 5,000 euros in Germany in September. Here, for a bit more money, you get a whole computer that can give a model five times as much memory. It computes more slowly, but a huge model at least fits in it entirely.
