Konami and the studio Screen Burn have dated Silent Hill: Townfall: 24 September, on PlayStation 5 and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Pre-orders are open.

Not a remake and not a sequel

Townfall is a standalone spin-off, full length rather than an episode. The setting moves from small-town America to Scotland, to an island with the invented town of St. Amelia: fog, an enclosed space and a past nobody wants to discuss.

It is played in first person, which is not standard for the series either.

Who is making it

The developer is Screen Burn of Glasgow, the studio previously known as No Code. Behind them are Stories Untold and Observation, so these are people with a reputation in quiet, conversational horror rather than jump scares. Konami and Annapurna Interactive are publishing together.

Editions and prices

  • Standard edition, 49.99 dollars. The disc is a PlayStation 5 exclusive.
  • Digital Deluxe, 59.99 dollars. Digital only, but with access two days ahead of release, from 22 September.

A small discrepancy: the Steam page lists 23 September while the Konami announcement says the 24th. Most likely a time zone difference, as it usually is.

Less than a month to release, and a new trailer is expected at Gamescom Opening Night Live on 25 August.
