Gameplay footage from Grand Theft Auto VI has leaked. We are not showing it and we are not telling you where to look. Below is only what can be discussed without spoiling the game for anyone, plus where we stand on this.

The short version first: the clip appears to come from a build that is more than eighteen months old. Even the people who watched it did not see the game that will ship.

Why people are calling it a 2025 build

How the clip is dated by a detail that is hard to fake

The dating comes from a small thing. During a drive, the car radio plays Sports Car, a single by Tate McRae. The track came out on 24 January 2025, so nothing in the game could have been recorded with it before that date.

Which means the build is at least a year and a half old. On a project this size everything shifts in that time, from lighting to balance to whole mechanics. Judging the finished game by this clip makes about as much sense as judging a film by a rough cut.

Details below, and they are hidden

We tucked the breakdown behind a spoiler on purpose. It is mechanics rather than story, but some people want to sit down to this game knowing nothing at all, and that wish deserves respect. Open it if you like. Scroll past if you do not, you lose nothing.

What the clip reportedly showed

  • Two ways to steal a car: clone the key or break the window.
  • Slow motion kills, in the manner of Red Dead Redemption 2.
  • When a police officer catches you, a dedicated button to surrender.
  • Ray traced street lighting at night and real time reflections in car windows.
  • A fuel level system is confirmed.
  • The clip ends on a scene with Jason and Cal, both of whom Rockstar has shown officially.

Even this deserves the age discount. A mechanic that was in the game eighteen months ago could have gone anywhere since.

Where we stand

A card listing what this article does not contain: links, frames and spoilers
The rules we write about leaks by

We do not support leaks like this and we do not advise hunting the clip down. The reason is practical rather than moral: you would spoil a game you have waited years for, in exchange for two minutes of somebody else's rough draft.

There is a second reason. Behind this recording is not journalism but a person who took someone else's work and started handing it out as their own. Every view is their currency.

So there is no link to the clip here, not a single frame from it, and no hints about where to look. The fact of a leak can be discussed. Spreading it cannot. The difference between those two things is the whole point.

What happens next

The leaker claims to hold a full build of the game and has already posted the name of a hidden file that points at the ending of one story line. We are not reproducing the contents and will not, even if the whole thing surfaces.

If the threats are serious, the next few weeks online will be a minefield for anyone waiting on this game. The advice is obvious but it works: set keyword filters on your social feeds and do not open videos with shouting headlines. From our side, a promise: there will be no story spoilers on this site.
