Remedy has shipped update 1.2.10 for Alan Wake 2, and it finally brings native AMD FSR 4 support. FSR Frame Generation arrives with it as a separate graphics option.
What exactly landed
FSR 4 switches itself on with supported graphics cards once you pick FSR Super Resolution in the menu. There is no extra checkbox to hunt for.
Frame generation sits in its own menu entry and also depends on the hardware. Which means Radeon owners now have an official route to both upscaling and frame generation, with no third party tools and no swapping of game files.
Why that matters. Before this patch the game only offered the older FSR, and AMD frame generation was absent entirely. The one way to run FSR 4 in Alan Wake 2 was OptiScaler, which even has a dedicated page for this game in its wiki.
If you did install the mod, you can now remove it and go back to the stock settings. If you did not, and you want the same trick in other games, we have a detailed walkthrough of how it works.
What else is in the patch

- Opacity Micromaps and Shader Execution Reordering. Moved to the Agility SDK, so they now work across GPU vendors instead of one.
- Cutscene audio. The sync problem that could still show up on every platform is fixed.
- New Game Plus. The Crossbow Cult Stash no longer blocks the way to the Lighthouse.
- Crash. A crash tied to Quick Slots under certain conditions is gone.
And a word about the store
Alan Wake 2 runs on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and on PC it is still sold only through the Epic Games Store. The game came out in 2023 and remains exclusive to one storefront.
The Steam question has come up more than once. One player wrote directly to Tim Sweeney, the head of Epic, and got a five word answer: it is not coming to Steam. Sweeney later confirmed to 80 Level that the email was genuine.
The wording was flat, with no hint at a change of heart, so there is little reason to expect one.
