METRO 2039 now has PC system requirements, and the recommended column reads like a workstation spec sheet: 64 GB of DDR5 memory, a GeForce RTX 4090 and a Core i9-14900KS. The requirements went up on the game's Epic Games Store page on October 13, the day pre-orders opened. On Steam the CPU and GPU fields are still blank. The game launches on February 4, 2027, priced at $69.99.
Minimum and recommended specs

| Minimum | Recommended | |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 10 64-bit |
| CPU | Intel Core i5-14600K / AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D | Intel Core i9-14900KS / AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D |
| Memory | 16 GB DDR5 | 64 GB DDR5 |
| GPU | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 |
| DirectX | 12 | 12 |
| Storage | 135 GB | 135 GB |
The table is copied in full, exactly as the store lists it. No resolution, frame rate or graphics preset is given for either column, and no upscaler is mentioned. So right now there is no way to tell whether these specs target 1080p at 30 fps or 4K with ray tracing.
Why 64 GB is a surprise

For a shooter's recommended specs, 64 GB of RAM is close to unheard of. The usual ceiling for big recent games is 32 GB, and even that tends to sit in the top tier. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 asked for 64 GB, but it simulates an entire planet, and the figure sat in its separate "ideal" tier rather than its recommended one. The gap inside METRO 2039's own specs is unusual too: four times the memory from minimum to recommended, and twice the video memory, from 12 GB on the RTX 3060 to 24 GB on the RTX 4090.
I would not rush out to buy a second memory kit just yet. Without a resolution or preset, recommended specs often just mean "the best PC in the studio", and publishers frequently refine the numbers before launch. Last time, 4A Games published a detailed table with resolutions and ray tracing modes for Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition, so I hope to see the same here.
What the specs leave out

- AMD graphics cards. Both columns list only NVIDIA, not a single Radeon, even though AMD CPUs are listed.
- Video memory. The RTX 3060 shipped with both 12 GB and 8 GB, and the specs do not say which.
- Resolution, frame rate and presets. Not given for either column.
- A modest minimum. Even the minimum CPU is a Core i5-14600K or Ryzen 7 5800X3D, and memory is DDR5 only, so older DDR4 platforms are formally left out.
Pre-orders are open on Steam and the Epic Games Store. The Collector's Edition includes a wearable Spartan helmet replica, and the Deluxe Edition adds a story expansion coming in 2027. We covered what the game has shown so far in our piece on the Renegade trailer, and the free update for the Redux trilogy separately.
