The PS3 emulator RPCS3 no longer has a single game stuck on a black screen. The team announced on X that the Loadable category of its compatibility list is empty, with Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X. 2 the last game out. As of November 3 the list holds 3,557 games, and 80.07% of them can be finished. In January it was 70.5%. The emulator hasn't moved this fast since 2018-2020.

80% of the PS3 library: how fast RPCS3 got here

FramesGames chart: share of playable games in RPCS3 from 26.8 percent in 2018 to 80.1 in November 2026

I checked the Playable share against snapshots of the site in the Web Archive. In February 2018 only 26.8% of games could be finished, by January 2020 it was half, and 63.7% in 2022. Then growth nearly stalled: 68.7% in 2024, 69.5% in 2025, 70.5% in January 2026. After that came almost ten points in ten months. TechPowerUp was already reporting 75% back in July.

The rest breaks down like this: 687 games in Ingame (they run but can't be finished or have serious glitches), 22 in Intro (they only reach the menus) and zero in Loadable and Nothing. According to TechPowerUp, Intro is mostly PlayStation Move games, and that list will be harder to clear.

The fix, and why H.A.W.X. 2 can't be finished yet

H.A.W.X. 2 was unblocked by an SPU accuracy fix from contributor Yahfz. RPCS3 now recreates the SPU thread loader and the arguments the console's LV2 kernel leaves in each SPU group's local store before the code image loads. Without that, the loader got corrupted and the game sat on a black screen with a framerate counter in the window title, which is exactly how Loadable is defined.

Ingame doesn't mean playable, though. The status was updated on October 19 on build v0.0.43-20337, and the game still has issues. One more caveat: Loadable was declared empty once before, around the turn of 2023, and games drifted back in. So this is a milestone rather than a finish line. Still, for anyone keeping an old PS3 around for a couple of exclusives, it's good news: four games out of five can now be finished on PC.
