The Steam Autumn Sale started on October 1 at 17:00 UTC (10 AM Pacific) and runs for a week, until October 8 at the same time. This year Valve moved it from late November to early October. The Winter Sale starts on December 17 and runs until January 4, 2027.

The most notable discounts

We went through the Steam store on launch day. Prices below are from the US store in dollars. Other regions have their own amounts, but the discount percentage is usually the same.
- 90 percent off. Hogwarts Legacy for 5.99, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition and The Outlast Trials for 3.99 each.
- 75 percent off. Red Dead Redemption 2 for 14.99, Resident Evil 4 for 9.99, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 for 14.99.
- 70 and 60 percent off. Cyberpunk 2077 for 17.99, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II for 23.99.
- The surprise. The Witcher 3 Remastered, released only on September 29, is already half price: 24.99 instead of 49.99. Owners of the original get the remaster for free anyway.
- For our favorites. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is 30 percent off at 41.99, The Last of Us Part II Remastered is 33 percent off at 33.49, and our 10 out of 10 review is here.
Elden Ring, Black Myth: Wukong and Hollow Knight: Silksong are not part of the sale, their prices are unchanged. The discounts also stay the same all week: Valve dropped daily flash deals long ago, so there is no point waiting for the last day in the hope of a lower price.
When the Winter Sale starts and what else is on the calendar
| Event | Dates |
|---|---|
| Autumn Sale | October 1-8, 2026 |
| Steam Next Fest, demos | October 19-26, 2026 |
| Winter Sale | December 17, 2026 - January 4, 2027 |
| Spring Sale | March 18-25, 2027 |
| Summer Sale | June 24 - July 8, 2027 |
The Winter Sale, like the Summer Sale, is longer than the autumn one: two and a half weeks instead of one. In spring Valve will run a one-week sale again. Steam's everyday deals are changing too: the company is already removing the Daily, Midweek and Weekend Deals sections and will replace them with a personal deals feed in early 2027.
How not to overpay

- Check the price history. SteamDB and IsThereAnyDeal show whether a game has ever been cheaper. If it has dropped lower before, it may be worth waiting for winter.
- Add games to your wishlist. Steam will email you when they go on sale, so you do not have to check the store every day.
- Remember refunds. If you have played less than two hours and no more than 14 days have passed since purchase, Steam will refund you. That is good insurance for a game you grabbed on a whim at a discount.
- Compare editions. Sometimes the complete edition with all expansions costs almost as much as the base game on sale. For example, Phantom Liberty for Cyberpunk 2077 is currently 17.99 on its own.
