Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: 11 Switch games with fan-made native PC ports, 7 with a Windows build
SHARE
PlatformsPCSteam DeckNintendo Switch

On October 14 a developer called peiikai published the first public build of LASRecomp, and The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening started running on Windows as an ordinary program, with no emulator in between. Six days later GitHub has ports of eleven Switch games, and seven of them have a Windows build you can download today: Skyward Sword HD, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, both Pokémon Let's Go games, Bayonetta 2 and Hyrule Warriors, on top of Link's Awakening. They are all fan projects. None include the game, every one needs a dump of your own copy, and several also want your console's keys. This is the full list, with versions, requirements and the catch for each port. Last updated on October 20.

The same thing happened to PS4 games two weeks earlier, and that wave has its own list of every PS4 port.

Why Switch games are suddenly on PC

GitHub stars of Switch and Wii fan ports on October 20, 2026: Link's Awakening 1431, Mario Wonder 343, Skyward Sword HD 318

The PS4 ports had it easier: that console has an x86-64 processor like a PC, so the game code runs as is. The Switch uses an ARM chip from NVIDIA, so every one of these projects does static recompilation instead. The game's ARM64 code is translated into C ahead of time and compiled into a normal x86-64 program, and the calls to NVN, the Switch's graphics API, are rerouted to Vulkan (DirectX 11 in the Smash port). In practice that means a build step: Bayonetta 2 compiles in about five minutes on a 16-thread CPU, Smash can take anywhere from half an hour to a few hours.

Most of the ports share code. SkyRecomp, the Let's Go port and the Windows port of Astral Chain are built on LASRecomp's runtime, while Bayonetta 2 and Super Mario Odyssey come from an earlier Smash Ultimate recompilation project. Several authors also say openly that they wrote most of the code with AI assistants, Claude Code in particular: Link's Awakening, Brilliant Diamond, Mario Wonder, Astral Chain and the Wii port of Super Mario Galaxy all mention it in their READMEs.

Interest is lopsided. Link's Awakening has 1,431 stars after twelve days, about four times more than any other Switch port on the list.

Zelda: Link's Awakening and Skyward Sword HD

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD runs at 60 FPS on PC in SkyRecomp, Link's Awakening up to 8K
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD
  • Link's Awakening (LASRecomp). Still marked beta, and the author warns that crashes can happen. The headline feature is a randomizer that shuffles items, entrances, shops, music, enemies and even dungeon rooms, with a seed you can share. On top of that you get ultrawide, an internal resolution cap of 4x (8K), SMAA, FSR 1 on Windows and MetalFX on a Mac, plus full remapping for keyboard and gamepad. Beta 4 from October 15 added eight languages, a mirror mode and a fix for a 30 FPS lock outdoors. You need Windows 10 or newer, a CPU with AVX2 and a Vulkan 1.3 graphics card, and a dump of version 1.0.0.
  • Skyward Sword HD (SkyRecomp). Built on the Link's Awakening runtime. The author promises 60 FPS at 1080p, 1440p, 4K and ultrawide; version 1.0.5 on October 20 adds a 120 FPS mode but says combat, flying and cutscenes haven't been fully checked at that rate. Mouse and keyboard work, and there's a mod manager. Requirements: an AVX2 and FMA processor, a Vulkan 1.3 GPU (GeForce 900, Radeon RX 400 or Intel Arc and newer), 8 GB of RAM with 16 recommended, about 15 GB of disk. Your dump must be version 1.0.0 without updates. Versions 1.0.4 and 1.0.5 fixed crashes in caves and around some characters, oversized eyes and garbled names, which tells you how young the project is: three days.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate PC port WindowSmash: up to 8 controllers, 60 GB of disk and 16 GB of RAM
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

WindowSmash is the most ambitious project here and the least finished. Menus and matches run, up to eight controllers plus keyboard, DLC fighters work, and there's a tool that unlocks the roster. Online play works by relaying the game's local wireless mode over the internet through the project's lobby, and the author says full matches between two PCs haven't been properly tested yet. It renders through DirectX 11, so almost any graphics card will do, but the README admits there's no verified performance target.

Setup is heavy. You need your console's prod.keys, title.keys and firmware, about 60 GB of free space and 16 GB of RAM, and the build takes from 30 minutes to a few hours. The base 1.0.0 release on its own doesn't work; versions 11.0.0 and 13.0.5 have been tested. The current 0.2.0 alpha is source only, and only the older 0.1.0 has a ready Windows runtime.

Pokémon: Let's Go and Brilliant Diamond

Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! PC port version 0.5.0, battles at 30 FPS, first setup 22 minutes
Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee!
  • Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! (letsgo-recomp). One port for both games, on the Link's Awakening runtime. Version 0.5.0 from October 20 brought a new launcher, SSAO and global illumination, and 60 or 120 FPS outside battles as an experiment; battles stay at the game's 30. Up to 4K, SMAA, TAA, FSR 3.1 and FSR 3.1 frame generation. With a mouse you aim Poké Balls directly. The author is clear that nobody has finished the game on the port yet, and there's no online, no Poké Ball Plus and no second player. It needs an AVX2, FMA and BMI2 processor, a Vulkan 1.3 GPU, about 4 GB of RAM in play and a dump of version 1.0.0 (updates 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 lose the frame rate options). The first setup recompiles the game, which took 22 minutes on a 20-thread CPU.
  • Brilliant Diamond (uDPR). A different approach: the game is rebuilt as a Unity 2019 project from code restored out of the shipped executable. It boots, plays and saves, and adds an unlocked frame rate, 2x to 8x fast-forward and keyboard support. There's no release, though, and the setup is the hardest on this list: Wwise 2019.2.5, 32 GB of RAM recommended, about 60 GB of disk and roughly three hours. Shining Pearl isn't supported, and the original repository this one was forked from has already disappeared.

Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors and Astral Chain

Bayonetta 2 PC port B2recomp: 16 releases in three days, builds in 5 minutes on 16 threads
Bayonetta 2
  • Bayonetta 2 (B2recomp). Sixteen releases in three days, the latest 0.2.7 on October 20. The download is a builder rather than a game: it compiles the port on your own PC from your dump of version 1.2, in about five minutes on 16 threads, and it reads no console keys. The prologue has been played through for 15 minutes without a crash and chapter 1 past its first part; later chapters are still being tested. The author's benchmark shows 59.5 FPS, there's an experimental mode up to 120, a resolution scale up to 4K and a keyboard and mouse layout copied from the PC version of the first Bayonetta. Online is impossible.
  • Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition (HWDER). The quiet one: its first public build came out on October 3, before Link's Awakening, and hardly anyone wrote about it. Menus, story and legend mode battles, saves and sound work at 60 Hz, dropping to 30 where the game itself does. The 0.1.2-test2 build adds 120 and 144 Hz frame interpolation and fixes black boxes on AMD. You need prod.keys, a Vulkan 1.3 driver and an AVX2 CPU. Some hit effects still show black squares.
  • Astral Chain. Two projects started a day apart. The Windows one (AstralChain-PC) has no release, only a setup script that builds the port from your base game, update 1.0.1 and keys; it has been tested through the highway chase and the first on-foot section of File 01, at 57-60 FPS, but only on an RTX 4090. AC-Recomp is aimed at Macs: version 0.1.0 runs the File 01 bike chase at a stable 30 FPS on an M5 Pro, while its Windows and Linux builds only boot so far.

Mario: Wonder and Odyssey aren't out yet

Super Mario Bros. Wonder PC port has no release yet and reaches course 1-1
Super Mario Bros. Wonder

Both Mario ports are only source code for now. Super Mario Bros. Wonder runs from the title screen through the world map to course 1-1, at 60 FPS in 720p on a Linux laptop with Intel graphics but only 30.5 FPS on an RTX 3050 at 1080p, and on Windows it still crashes after character select. Super Mario Odyssey has been played by hand from Cap Kingdom to the first checkpoint in Cascade Kingdom at 59.8-60 FPS, on an RTX 4090 and nothing else, and all of its stages pass a short automatic start-up test. Neither has a build to download, and building Odyssey yourself needs LLVM 9, Visual Studio 2019 and a lot of patience. We'll add them to the table properly once a release appears.

Wii games: Super Mario Galaxy and Super Paper Mario

Super Mario Galaxy PC port Nebula: 60 FPS at 1440p on integrated graphics, up to 16x resolution
Super Mario Galaxy

The wave has also reached the Wii, with two ports that are, frankly, in better shape than most of the Switch ones. Nebula, a recompilation of Super Mario Galaxy, is called playable from the start of the game in its README, and the author reports a locked 60 FPS at 1440p even on the integrated graphics of a Core Ultra 9 185H laptop. It offers up to 16x internal resolution, 4:3 to 32:9, SMAA, FXAA and FSR 1, gyro aiming with a Switch Pro controller and Dolphin save import; 1.0.1 fixed crashes in two galaxies. The installer compiles the game from your US disc image (RMGE01), and 8 GB of RAM is enough.

New Super Paper Bros., a port of Super Paper Mario, reached 1.0.3 on October 20 with a Linux build and support for the European disc. It goes up to 4K, has 120 FPS frame interpolation, comes with higher quality music and HD textures, and puts the Wii pointer on the mouse. You need your own disc image of the US or European release.

Before you download anything

The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening: every Switch port needs your own dump, 4 also need console keys
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening

Every port above needs your own copy of the game, and the Smash, Hyrule Warriors, Astral Chain and Mario Wonder ports also need keys from your own console. We don't explain how to make a dump; each README points to the official tools.

There's a second thing worth knowing. Some ports compile the game on your PC from your files, which is the case with Bayonetta 2, Let's Go, Super Mario Galaxy and the Mac version of Astral Chain. Others ship code already recompiled from the game: SkyRecomp's Windows build includes a precompiled game library, the older WindowSmash 0.1.0 comes with a ready executable, and the Super Paper Mario release contains the recompiled program and Nintendo artwork. Nintendo has a long record here. In 2024 the Yuzu emulator shut down after a settlement with Nintendo for 2.4 million dollars, and Ryujinx stopped development the same year. If any of these repositories vanishes, we'll mark it in the table, as we already do on the PS4 list.

And the usual rule: download only from the repositories in the table. A real port never contains the game itself, so anything offering a "full game download" or a torrent isn't one.
