Chroma swaps his element with his energy colour and inflates his own armour from damage taken. Vex Armor is still one of the biggest multipliers in the game, which is why he gets dragged to Eidolons and to bosses that need one very large hit.

Can you buy Chroma for platinum

In short, yes, Chroma costs 375 platinum in the Market and arrives fully built with a free slot.

  • Price. 375 platinum for a built Chroma with a slot for it.
  • Mastery. It ticks the same whether the frame was bought or built, so buying saves time, not rank.

There is a second route people forget about. A full Chroma Prime set on warframe.market goes for around 85 platinum as of 29 August 2026, which is 4.4 times cheaper than the 375 the shop wants for the regular version. The difference is what you get: 375 buys a finished frame with a slot, while a market set is blueprints that you still have to build and feed with resources. Platinum but no time, use the shop. Time but little platinum, buy the Prime set, which is the stronger frame anyway.

Is there a Chroma Prime

Yes, Chroma Prime exists, but it is vaulted: its relics left the drop tables on 14.07.2020. That leaves three ways in: trade the parts from other players, catch it in Prime Resurgence when Varzia offers it for Regal Aya, or wait for an unvaulting.

The Prime recipe is its own thing and noticeably heavier: it eats 7 800 Salvage instead of 900. Components cost 15,000 credits and 12 hours each, the final build costs 25,000 and sits for 72 h. The regular version takes exactly as long for its final build. Do not toss the spare parts, Baro Ki'Teer takes them for ducats, prices are in the table.

The main blueprint is a reward for The New Strange. The components arrive from Junctions: Neuroptics from the Uranus Junction, Chassis from Neptune, Systems from Pluto. It is a rare case with no farming at all, you just push through progression nodes. Repeat blueprints come from Cephalon Simaris, 25,000 standing per component and 50,000 for the main one.

What it is built from

The Foundry wants four runs: three components first, the final assembly after. Components run in the Foundry at the same time, so from the first click to a finished frame it is roughly 84 h: twelve for the parts and 72 for the Warframe itself.

Where to farm the resources

There is exactly one bottleneck here, and it is Oxium: the recipe wants 400 and it will not pile up on its own. Oxium Ospreys drop it and almost nothing else does. Io on Jupiter is the classic spot because the defence waves keep sending them. Second heaviest is Argon Crystal at 2. Void only, and it decays 24 hours after you pick it up. Farm it last, right before you press build. Everything else accumulates while you play and needs no special trip.

Is Chroma worth building

Chroma turns damage taken into damage dealt: Vex Armour multiplies your weapon numbers instead of casting anything flashy.

The numbers look like this: no mastery rank requirement, roughly 84 hours from the first foundry press to a finished frame, and 85 000 credits across all the builds together. A finished Prime set on the market runs about 85 platinum.

Still the classic pick for Eidolon hunts and for anything you want to kill in one shot.

Every other frame is broken down the same way, the full list lives in the guide to all Warframes.
