GTA 6 on PC: why it is not coming on 19 November and when to expect it

The short answer: on 19 November 2026 GTA 6 arrives on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. There is no PC version that day, and none has been announced. The PC date has not slipped, been delayed or been missed, because it has never existed.

Below is what that is worth waiting for, what is already known for certain, and above all why buying a graphics card today "for GTA 6" is the worst thing you can do with the money.

What Rockstar has said and what it has not

The official game page on 2 September 2026 lists exactly two platforms. No Windows, no Steam, no Epic.

  • 19 November 2026, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. That is after two delays: first from a 2025 window to 26 May 2026, then in November 2025 to the current date, for extra polish.
  • Pre-orders opened on 25 June. Take-Two called the numbers unprecedented, and by Sensor Tower's estimate 89 percent of them are the Ultimate Edition.
  • Boxes hit shops on 12 November, a week before the game itself, and inside is a download code rather than a disc. That is Rockstar insuring itself against leaks and resale.
  • On PC, nothing has been said. Not "later", not "never". Silence.

The closest thing to an explanation from anyone at the studio comes from a former Rockstar producer on why development starts with consoles: "it's always better to start with the constraints and then extend". A console is one fixed configuration, a PC is thousands. You finish the game on one and port it afterwards.

How long the PC version took last time

Rockstar has a long history here, and the spread in it is wide.

GameConsolesPCGap
GTA IV29 April 20082 December 20087 months
GTA V17 September 201314 April 201519 months
Red Dead Redemption 226 October 20185 November 201912 months
Red Dead Redemption18 May 201029 October 202414 years

Take the three cases where a PC version was actually planned and you get seven to nineteen months. Lay that over 19 November 2026 and the window runs from summer 2027 to spring 2028.

The fourth row is there as a reminder that it can go another way entirely. The first Red Dead Redemption waited fourteen years and only landed on PC at the end of 2024. So a window is a window, not a promise.

Thirty frames on console

In August 2026 Rockstar confirmed what people had argued about since the first trailer: at launch GTA 6 runs at thirty frames per second on both consoles. Not sixty, not a performance mode you can pick, thirty.

For this article that matters more than it looks. Sixty frames in this game will exist on PC and nowhere else, and not before the PC version ships. Anyone who wants it smooth is not waiting for a port, they are waiting for the only way to see the game outside of thirty frames. What the image itself looks like we went through in our frame by frame trailer breakdown.

Do not buy a graphics card for GTA 6 now

This is the section nobody writes, because it gets in the way of selling hardware through affiliate links. We have none, so here it is.

Look at what you are buying into. No published system requirements. No announced PC date. Past timing points at 2027 or 2028. A card bought in September 2026 specifically for GTA 6 will be two generations old by the time GTA 6 actually arrives, and it will cost noticeably less than you paid.

Add European prices to that. The RTX 5070 launched at 549 dollars and sells in Germany for around 690 euro, the RTX 5070 Ti turns 749 dollars into more than a thousand. We capture these prices every month and the gap between the launch price and the shelf has held for a second year.

The sane order of operations: if you need a card now, buy it for the games you play now and pick it on euro per frame, not on a release that has no date. Our roundup under 300 euro has the live prices. The money you were going to put into an upgrade for Rockstar will wait perfectly well in your account until the PC version is announced.

There are no requirements, but something can be estimated

Search for GTA 6 system requirements today and half the first page is articles of the "what to expect" kind. We are not writing one of those: official requirements do not exist, and every table of processors and graphics cards you are shown right now was invented by its author.

What can be done honestly is to look at what Rockstar asked for the last time it moved a console game to PC. These are the official Red Dead Redemption 2 requirements from the game's Steam page, a game built for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One:

MinimumRecommended
ProcessorCore i5-2500K or FX-6300Core i7-4770K or Ryzen 5 1500X
Memory8 GB12 GB
GraphicsGeForce GTX 770 2 GB or Radeon R9 280 3 GBGeForce GTX 1060 6 GB or Radeon RX 480 4 GB
Storage150 GB150 GB
Official Red Dead Redemption 2 requirements from Steam. These belong to a different game, not to GTA 6, and they sit here as a guide to the studio's habits.

What that tells you in practice. In the recommended row Rockstar put a mid range card of its day, clearly faster than the console but not a flagship. It asked for a lot of storage, 150 GB against a little over 100 on console. And it kept the minimum bar low so the game would still start on old hardware.

None of it transfers to GTA 6 directly, but the habits are visible.

What to do if you are not waiting

There is exactly one option: a console. PS5 or Xbox Series X, 19 November, thirty frames.

A couple of things worth knowing first. The boxed edition holds a download code rather than a disc, so reselling the game or lending it to a friend is out, and some retailers refused to stock it over exactly that. Part of the content is locked inside the Ultimate Edition, which caused a row of its own. On the other hand Rockstar promises no microtransactions at launch in either version.

A box with no disc is not a Rockstar-only story any more, by the way. CD Projekt has promised a boxed Witcher 4 even without discs, and its reasons were the opposite ones.

When this page will be updated

The day Rockstar says one word about PC. A date, system requirements, a Steam or Epic page: all of it lands here, with the update date in the header.

For now the position is this. On 19 November the game arrives on two consoles at thirty frames, a PC version does not exist even as a sentence, and the freshest leak from the stolen build, the one the whole topic currently revolves around, we took apart in a separate piece.
