Marvel's Wolverine is a little over two weeks away, and Insomniac has signed off with the thing people love the studio for: it dragged a meme into the game. That meme, the one where Logan lies on a bed staring at a picture frame. Here is everything known about the game as of today, gathered in one place.
The meme lives in the mission select screen

The image comes from the nineties X-Men animated series, where Wolverine lies back and gazes sadly at a photograph. The internet turned that frame into jokes about twenty years ago and it has never died. Insomniac did not bury it in a cutscene or hide it in a corner of a level, it went straight into the interface: open the screen for replaying missions you have already finished and Logan is there in the background, on the bed, frame in hand.
A small thing, obviously. But small things like that say more about a studio than trailers do: somebody spent time animating a screen a player opens once every twenty hours.
When it lands and on what

- Release date: 15 September 2026. PlayStation 5 only, no PS4 version, the game was built for the current generation from the ground up.
- Developed by Insomniac Games, the studio behind both Marvel's Spider-Man games. Published by Sony Interactive Entertainment.
- Editions: Standard at 69.99 dollars, Digital Deluxe at 79.99, and a 10 dollar upgrade from one to the other.
- A limited edition PS5 arrives the same day in the game's trim: a Digital Edition bundle, console covers and DualSense controllers. Sold separately from the game.
What kind of game it is
A single player, narrative driven third person adventure. And the part many people expected to go the other way: there is no open world, Sony says so in plain words on the game's page. After two Spider-Man games built around a full New York, that reads as a deliberate turn rather than a saving.
Logan deals with his own past while going up against Bolivar Trask, who is abducting mutants. The locations are listed officially: the frozen Canadian wilderness, the narrow streets of Tokyo, and the island nation of Madripoor with its high and low districts. Combat is built around swappable Techniques and Adaptations, sets of moves you change as you go.
The rating is M, and the reasons run long: blood and gore, drug reference, intense violence, partial nudity and strong language. For a Wolverine game that reads as a promise rather than a warning.
What else to expect
Landing on 15 September puts the game two months ahead of GTA 6, and it is arguably Sony's only exclusive of this size this year. Sony says nothing about a PC version, but going by both Spider-Man games it tends to arrive around a year and a half after the console release. If that pattern holds, expect it somewhere in early 2028.
