The biggest thing you can play for free this weekend is a game that is not even out yet. Sports Interactive opened Football Manager 27 to everyone on PC and Mac on 29 October, and the free period runs until 18:00 UTC on 3 November, a week before the 10 November launch. On top of that, Steam is giving away two smaller games for good, and Xbox has five games in Free Play Days.
Football Manager 27: the full game until 3 November
This is not a demo. Sports Interactive calls it the Launch Preview, and every mode is open, including Shuffle Draft, the new multiplayer mode made with FIFAe. You can get it from Steam, the Epic Games Store, the Microsoft Store or PC Game Pass with no sign-up, and a career you start now carries over to the paid game.
If you want to keep going after 3 November, the pre-purchase is 10% off, $53.99 instead of $59.99 on Steam, and it keeps the preview open until release. Game Pass members just continue their save through the subscription. The studio needs the goodwill: Football Manager 26, released on 4 November 2025, sits at 38% positive out of 9,452 Steam reviews, so five free days are a cheaper way to check whether FM27 fixed what put people off.
Two Steam games to keep
- Hexologic. A calm number puzzle from MythicOwl, close to Sudoku but on hexagons. It normally costs $4.99, 96% of its 694 Steam reviews are positive, and it is the one to grab first: the offer ends at 17:00 UTC on 31 October.
- Asleep: Act 1. A 2D horror game from Black Hole Games where light is your only defence and every creature reacts to it differently. Usually $9.99, 91% positive out of 316 reviews, free to keep until 18:00 UTC on 2 November.
Press "Add to Account" on the store page before the deadline and the game stays in your library after the offer ends.
Xbox Free Play Days: five games until Sunday
Four of the five need Game Pass Ultimate, Premium or Essential: WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, Darkwood, Spirittea and EVERSPACE 2. Xbox Wire gives Sunday 1 November as the last day for them but no hour. Dead by Daylight is the exception: every Xbox member can play it on console without a subscription, and it stays open until 2 November.
The discounts are worth a look if one of them sticks: EVERSPACE 2 is 80% off at $9.99, Dead by Daylight up to 60% off at $11.99, Spirittea half price at $9.99 and WUCHANG 30% off at $34.99. Achievements and Gamerscore earned during the trial stay with you if you buy.
On the Epic Games Store this week's free game is Sorry We're Closed, until 16:00 UTC on 5 November. Every past giveaway is in our list of free Epic games.
