Volt is a starter frame and one of the three doors into the game. Hits with electricity, speeds the squad up and puts down a shield that adds damage to shots fired through it. Nothing in the Market is cheaper: 75 platinum, the same as Excalibur and Mag.
Can you buy Volt for platinum
Straight to it: yes, Volt costs 75 platinum in the Market and arrives fully built with a free slot.
- Price. 75 platinum for a built Volt with a slot for it.
- Mastery. It ticks the same whether the frame was bought or built, so buying saves time, not rank.
There is a second route people forget about. A full Volt Prime set on warframe.market goes for around 68 platinum as of 29 August 2026, which is 1.1 times cheaper than the 75 the shop wants for the regular version. The difference is what you get: 75 buys a finished frame with a slot, while a market set is blueprints that you still have to build and feed with resources. Platinum but no time, use the shop. Time but little platinum, buy the Prime set, which is the stronger frame anyway.
Is there a Volt Prime
Yes, Volt Prime exists, but it is vaulted: its relics left the drop tables on 28.02.2017. That leaves three ways in: trade the parts from other players, catch it in Prime Resurgence when Varzia offers it for Regal Aya, or wait for an unvaulting.
The Prime recipe is its own thing and noticeably heavier: it eats 1 150 Alloy Plate instead of 150. Components cost 15,000 credits and 12 hours each, the final build costs 25,000 and sits for 72 h. The regular version needs 24 h for its final build, so the gap is real. Do not toss the spare parts, Baro Ki'Teer takes them for ducats, prices are in the table.

Where the blueprints come from
Volt's blueprints are researched in the Tenno Lab in a clan dojo. That is the only proper way to build him by hand, no boss drops them. With no clan of your own, join any settled one where the Tenno Lab is finished and the research has been closed for years. Separately, Teshin sells a finished Volt for 60,000 Conclave standing at Typhoon rank.
This is where most people get stuck: the blueprints sit in a clan dojo, and a new player has no clan. It takes one evening to get past.
- Find a clan. Open the Recruiting chat in game and say you are looking for a clan with the Tenno Lab researched. There are almost always open spots and joining takes a minute.
- If the research is not done, any member with research rights can start it. Pick the frame in the Tenno Lab, the clan chips in resources, then a timer runs.
- You cannot buy the blueprints from another player. Clan lab blueprints are not tradeable. Only Prime parts are.
- If you would rather not hunt for a clan, two routes remain: 275 platinum for the finished frame in the shop, or a Prime set from the market.
What it is built from
The usual order: three components in parallel, then the Warframe on top of them. Components run in the Foundry at the same time, so from the first click to a finished frame it is roughly 36 h: twelve for the parts and 24 for the Warframe itself.

Where to farm the resources
Volt has no real resource bottleneck: everything on the list piles up while you play. The only item worth a deliberate trip is Morphics, and you need 2. Mercury and Earth. Apollodorus on Mercury is a short survival that keeps handing them out.

Is Volt worth building
Volt is speed and electricity: Speed buffs the whole squad, Shield doubles your bullet damage through it, and Discharge stuns a room.
The numbers look like this: no mastery rank requirement, roughly 36 hours from the first foundry press to a finished frame, and 70 000 credits across all the builds together. A finished Prime set on the market runs about 68 platinum.
The third starter, and the one that stays useful longest. Half the speedrun clips online are him.
