The next Mass Effect game died with BioWare, but the TV show is still going. IGN reports, citing sources at Prime Video, that the Amazon MGM Studios series remains in development with every announced creative still attached. One of its executive producers is Mike Gamble, who was running the next Mass Effect at BioWare until 21 October. Amazon hasn't commented officially.
What we know about the show

Talk of a Mass Effect show goes back to 2021, when Amazon was said to be "nearing a deal". It became officially in development in November 2024, when Variety named the writer: Daniel Casey of Fast & Furious 9. The executive producers, per VGC and IGN:
- Karim Zreik, who produced Jessica Jones.
- Ari Arad, a producer on Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
- Mike Gamble of BioWare, who led the next game in the series.
It isn't Shepard's story. Back in November 2025 Gamble said the show would be set after the original trilogy: "It won't be a retread of Commander Shepard's story, because after all, that's YOUR story, isn't it?" There's no premiere date, no cast and not even a title yet.
What Mike Gamble said

Gamble posted the same day the closure was announced. He thanked players for their support "over the past 17 years at BioWare" and asked people to send him open roles, saying there's a lot of talent on the team and he'll personally vouch for everyone in his crew. He signed off the way BioWare people tend to, with a joke on a bad day: "At least I don't have to call in sick when GTA 6 comes out."
EA still hasn't said what happens to the games. It owns Mass Effect, and in theory the show could give it a reason to come back with another studio, but that's my guess, not anyone's plan. One more caveat: a two-minute video is going around that's being passed off as a trailer for the cancelled game. Nobody has confirmed it's real, and even DSOGaming, which wrote about it, says to take it with a grain of salt, so I'm not putting it here.
