Bluepoint's Demon's Souls remake, a 2020 PS5 exclusive, has become the first PS5 game you can play through on PC in a public emulator build. It isn't the official KytyPS5 but a fork of it by developer chenxiao07, tuned for this one game. According to the fork's README, an RTX 5090 at 1440p holds 60 fps in most places and 57-60 in the heaviest spots. Automated runs have gone through all six worlds, killing every enemy, bosses included. Windows builds come out almost daily, the latest on October 20. You need a dump of the game from your own PS5.
Frame rate and hardware

The author tests builds on a Core i9-14900K and RTX 5090 under Windows 11, and recommends 32 GB of RAM and a GPU with 12 GB of video memory. It does run with 16 GB of RAM, but loading is slower and you're better off closing your browser. With the test PC limited to 8 GB of video memory, most areas run at 40-60 fps and the heaviest at 10-35. Users run the fork on Radeon and Arc cards too, but problems specific to those GPUs are still being worked through in the issues.
- Game versions. 1.07 and 1.05 are supported, each with its own shader cache. Other versions and other games are untested in this fork.
- The October 20 build. It fixes a crash on PCs with 16 GB of RAM, repairs four shaders that brought the emulator down, and adds 153 shader programs to the precompile, including three large Shrine of Storms shaders that froze the game for up to 40 seconds.
- Languages. The game files hold every language, Chinese and Japanese included, but the game only lists its own region's. The README explains how to unlock the rest with one edit.
What you need to run it

Download the archive from the chenxiao07/KytyPS5 releases page, unzip it, run launcher.cmd or run.cmd and point it at the game folder, the one containing eboot.bin. On first start the launcher offers to precompile shaders: it takes a while, but without it the first session loads slowly and stutters. The main KytyPS5 project the fork is built on is still at an early stage: the team says it boots 2D games and a selection of 3D games, and warns about crashes and poor performance. So the Demon's Souls result comes from focused work on one game, not from PS5 emulation being ready in general.
The rest of PS5 emulation is further behind: Ghost of Yotei is only starting to work in SharpEmu, and its fix was even reverted in the latest 0.0.6 release. What already runs without an emulator from PS4 is in our list of PS4 ports on PC. Only download the fork from GitHub: "free installers" for Demon's Souls with no connection to the project are already circulating.
