DLSS-NR on AMD started as a way to run one neural network on Radeon. Version 0.8.0, which Daniel Blanco (danielblnc) put on GitHub on October 17, goes much further: DLSS Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, DLSS Frame Generation up to 4X and DLSS 5 neural rendering all run on RX 9000 and RX 7000 cards now. RX 6000 owners get neural rendering only, for the time being.
AMD has nothing to do with it and has said nothing about DLSS 5. This is one enthusiast's project, written from scratch in HIP, and you bring the NVIDIA libraries yourself. The installer was downloaded almost 4,000 times in its first day, and the early player reports Tom's Hardware rounded up are all over the place.
What 0.8.0 does on each Radeon generation
The release folds in two versions, since 0.7.0 had only been available to Discord members in early access. Everything sits in what Blanco calls a "Supermod", and each feature is switched on separately from the in-game overlay (End key).
| Feature | RX 9000 | RX 7000 | RX 6000 |
|---|---|---|---|
| DLSS 5 neural rendering | yes | yes, 25% faster than before | yes |
| DLSS Super Resolution 4.5 (models M and L) | yes | yes | in testing |
| Ray Reconstruction (model F) | yes | yes | in testing |
| DLSS Frame Generation, up to 4X | yes | yes | in testing |
| Bundled FSR 4.1.1 | yes | yes | not stated |
Inputs and outputs mix freely, so a game that only offers XeSS can still feed DLSS 5 with FSR doing the upscaling. For DLSS Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction inputs the mod reports an NVIDIA card to the game. Frame generation is pickier: the game has to ship DLSS Frame Generation itself, and it also needs the GPU spoof.
Ray Reconstruction only takes the ray traced inputs a game prepares for DLSS. Support for FSR Ray Regeneration inputs is on the to-do list.
Frame rates, and NVIDIA's new model
The author says an RX 9070 XT does 90 to 100 FPS at 1080p with the full model. The README names no game and no settings, so treat that as a ballpark rather than a benchmark. His stated goal is RTX 5070 Ti speed. Reddit reports quoted by Tom's Hardware range from no loss at all versus plain FSR to frame rates down by a few percent, and in some games by as much as 25%.
The other reason to update: 0.8.0 accepts DLSS 310.9.16 DLLs. Those carry the slimmer model NVIDIA announced on October 13, which reached NBA 2K27 on October 16 and was pulled out of the game update within hours. In tests collected by Wccftech, an RTX 4080 SUPER at 4K with path tracing, DLSS Performance and 4X frame generation went from 108 to 150 FPS. The author of the Intel port measured the network running in half the time on an Arc 140V.

Every one of those numbers comes from NVIDIA or Intel hardware. Nobody, the author included, has published what the new model does on a Radeon through DLSS-NR on AMD.
What you need to install it

The old installer is gone. NeuralHub is a proper mod manager now: it scans for games, keeps a single copy of the 150 MB weights instead of one per game folder, and handles Game Pass titles. The new Epic Games launcher is not supported yet.
- System. Windows 11 and a DirectX 12 game with DLSS, FSR or XeSS in its menu. Vulkan and Linux are planned.
- Driver. Adrenalin 26.1.1 or newer.
- DLLs. Your own nvngx_dlssnr.dll, version 310.8.0.0 or later, taken from a game with DLSS 5. Upscaling, Ray Reconstruction and frame generation each want their own file too: nvngx_dlss.dll, nvngx_dlssd.dll and nvngx_dlssg.dll. None of them ship with the mod.
- Anti-cheat. Protected games will block the DLL. Stick to single-player.
Get it from the danielblnc repository on GitHub and nowhere else. GitHub is full of lookalike DLSS 5 projects with big names, and some of them ship something other than what they claim. Step-by-step setup and the other mods for Radeon and Intel are in our living DLSS 5 guide.
