What to play on a GTX 1650 in 2026

If you own a GTX 1650, start with the good news: out of the fourteen most played Steam games whose official requirements I checked, your card falls below the stated minimum in exactly two. Palworld and Rust. Everything else, including Counter-Strike 2, PUBG, Apex Legends, Delta Force and both versions of GTA V, officially runs.

There is bad news too, and it is about four gigabytes of memory. We will get there.

You are not alone

Chart of graphics card share among Steam players
FramesGames chart built on the Steam hardware survey

The GTX 1650 sits in 2.74 percent of Steam machines. That makes it the fifth most common graphics card in the world according to Valve's own July 2026 survey. Only the RTX 3060, the laptop RTX 4060, the desktop RTX 4060 and the RTX 3050 are ahead of it.

I open with this chart on purpose, because online it is easy to believe everyone moved to an RTX 5080 long ago. They did not. Half the top of the list is budget and laptop hardware, and Valve counts it themselves, without any help from our imagination.

Runs with no questions asked

From here I take the Steam most played chart as of 31 August 2026 and check it against the official requirements on each game's own store page. Not against someone else's review, against what the developer wrote.

  • Counter-Strike 2. The official minimum is any card with a gigabyte of memory and DirectX 11 support. Yours is four times that bar.
  • Dota 2. Minimum GeForce 8600GT, a card from 2007. No comment needed.
  • PUBG. Minimum GTX 960 2GB. The GTX 1650 is faster and has twice the memory.
  • Apex Legends. Minimum GTX 950. Clears it comfortably.
  • Delta Force. Minimum GTX 660, and the list officially includes even the Intel Arc A380.
  • War Thunder. Minimum GTX 660 or Radeon 77XX.
  • GTA V Enhanced. Minimum GTX 1630 4GB. That is your class of card, only slower.
  • Stardew Valley, The Binding of Isaac, Team Fortress 2. Nothing to discuss, these ran on office machines a decade ago.

Notice that this is half the global top by player count. People mostly play things that never show up in a keynote.

Runs, but you will be turning things down

Project Zomboid officially asks for a dedicated card with four gigabytes. You have exactly four, which puts you right on the line. It will run, but large maps late in a save will keep eating at that memory.

Warframe barely states a GPU requirement at all, and it lives fine on weak hardware once you strip the post processing. The game is very showy, and half the load sits in those effects.

The general rule for this card: drop shadows and volumetric lighting first, resolution last. 1080p still holds on four gigabytes, while high quality shadows eat memory and frames at the same time.

Does not run, and that is honest

  • Palworld. Official minimum GTX 1660, one and a half times faster than your card. It will launch, but the developer warned you honestly.
  • Rust. Minimum GTX 1060, which carries six gigabytes against your four. Memory is what decides it here.
  • Cyberpunk 2077 and Black Myth: Wukong. Both list the GTX 1060 6GB as the minimum. On chip speed you almost get there, on memory you do not.
  • Assassin's Creed Shadows. This one is a surprise: the official minimum is exactly a GTX 1650 4GB. A 2025 game formally starts on your card, just at the lowest settings.

What to switch on to make life easier

The GTX 1650 cannot do DLSS: that needs tensor cores, and this card has none. It can do AMD's FSR, which works on any graphics card, and Intel's XeSS in compatibility mode. In games that offer neither, OptiScaler helps, and we have a separate guide on it.

The order goes like this. Turn on FSR in quality mode, that is roughly twenty percent of frames for free. Then lower shadows. Then kill volumetric fog and screen space reflections. Touch the resolution last.

When it is time to replace it

Here is the honest picture of how much faster the newer cards are. The RTX 3050 by one and a half times, the RTX 3060 by two and a half, the RTX 4060 by almost three, the RTX 5060 by three and a half.

Note where I am not sending you. Swapping a GTX 1650 for an RTX 3050 makes little sense: one and a half times is not the jump worth paying for. If you replace it, skip a step and go for something like an RX 9060 XT or an RTX 5060, and then the difference is real.

And if you play what actually sits in the Steam top, you do not need to replace anything. That is the main conclusion here, even though hardware articles usually exist to tell you the opposite.
