Cyberpunk 2077 is getting its first big update in 13 months. Update 2.5, called the Edgerunners 2 Update, is free and arrives on 22 October on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Switch 2 version follows "shortly", with no date from CD Projekt RED. The timing isn't a mystery: Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 premiered on Netflix on 20 October with all ten episodes at once, and the update brings items and features inspired by the anime.
What 2.5 promises
Details are thin so far. In its Steam post the studio named two things: cyberware customisation and a new dual-wielding playstyle. The rest gets shown on 21 October at 5 PM CEST, 15:00 UTC, in a special REDstreams episode on Twitch, YouTube and Steam. CD Projekt RED says the patch notes go live the same day.
The studio hasn't said anything about PC-specific changes, new upscalers or ray tracing, so don't count on those before the patch notes. For context, Update 2.3 arrived on 16 July 2025 with FSR 4 support for compatible AMD cards, FSR 3.1 frame generation, XeSS 2.0 and a Mac version, and the small 2.31 patch on 11 September 2025 improved AutoDrive and Photo Mode. After that the game went more than a year without an update, and 2.3 looked like the last big one.
FSR 4.1 on older Radeons, already
There's good news that doesn't depend on 2.5. Cyberpunk 2077 has supported FSR 4 since Update 2.3, and on 20 October AMD released the Adrenalin 26.10.1 driver, which unlocks FSR 4.1 on every Radeon RX 6000 card. RDNA 2 owners can switch to the new upscaler in the game today, no mods needed. One caveat from AMD's notes: on some RX 9000 cards the game can crash with FSR, Anti-Lag and in-game frame generation all on while a video plays on a second display. AMD's advice in that case is to turn off in-game frame generation.
The game currently costs $17.99 on Steam. If you haven't been back to Night City in a while, 22 October is a good excuse, and on the 21st we'll know exactly what for.
